Sunny & HOT With a Chance of Vegan Scallops & Linguine!

Hello Chickens!

So as promised here are my pictures:

Chipotle Lentil Burger, my Made In Detroit shirt, Vegan Po'boys & slaw, snuggle buddies, another Made In Detroit shirt, beer & Cupcakes, Natalie & Thoa's birthdays, Vegan Morel Mushroom & Bac'uns White Macaroni & Cheese Colonel Mustard eating a poster package I received in the mail, Vegan Rice Krispies, and more Mac 'n Cheese. AMAZING!!!

Tonight from the Veganize This! cookbook by Jen Shagrin we made her Vegan Scallops with a White Wine Cream Sauce Over Linguine-BLEW MY MIND! SO amazingly delicious-buy her book, do it, you will not regret. So flavorful and a huge diversity of recipes. It's rocking my world (& taste buds).

On the audition front I got a call back for the play I went out for, now just waiting to hear back. Also scheduling with the TCM producer when I can get on camera for my interview-EEEEE!!!!! Also I will be doing an infomercial for skin cream ($200 plus free product) as a favor to a friend whose job is to facilitate a buh-jillion infomercials. It should be pretty fun. Just getting my face out there :)

Hope all is well in your worlds! Colonel Mustard is snoozing on my shoulder but just perked up to tell me it's time to go O-U-T, so farewell. Night Chickens!

Sunny With a Chance of Mac & Cheese (vegan of course)

What a week it has been chickens!!!

So last Friday I got some bad news about owing a bunch of taxes, it looks like since I worked out of 10 locations not enough taxes were pulled. I got pretty bent out of shape about it. As Miss Holly Golightly puts it I had a case of the mean-reds. So I drank about it. A bottle of framboise and a large Jack Daniels & sweet tea. Now I am Irish-Polish-Cherokee so this gave me a buzz but wasn't anything dire. Sometimes a gal just has the mean-reds and really must follow in true "Breakfast at Tiffany's" style and have a drink with sunglasses about it.

Saturday I slept in until noon-thirty and camped out in my pjs watching Turner Classic Movies and snuggling with my pup. At 4 we got cleaned up & went to a Vegan Event at the Surly Goat here in West Hollywood with our friends from Dog is God in Reverse. Vegan Cupcakes (from C'est La V bakery) & beer from local micro-breweries. The cupcakes & beer were delightful! The lack of knowledge on the bar-tender & bar manager's part about which beers were vegan and which were not was disheartening (it WAS a vegan event planned 2 weeks in advance). Overall we had a blast. Then we went to Kari & Ian's place for dinner (they all had chicken :( wah wah) while I had AMAZING vegan Chickpea & Sausage Jambalaya [courtesy of the vegan dad!]. Great night.

Sunday was a day spent writing my synopsis & character analysis for my screenplay. I made delicios Lemony Artichoke Dip from "Clean Food" & vegan rice krispie treats. Then off to my writing group that I started with my good friend Dionna where we had a great & very inspiring first meeting. I am so excited to keep working on this project and hopefully make it a film!

Monday I booked and audition.

Tuesday I ROCKED my audition and got an email from Turner Classic Movies about a fan-story I submitted to them. They asked when I had time to talk more classic film with them (which I said ANYTIME-of course!) so hopefully you will see me on the TCM soon! :D I am so giddy I could burst-I am coming for you Robert Osborn, you know you need a fiery red-head to liven things up a bit!!!

I just feel like things are really starting to pick up acting & film wise. My edited headshots are coming this weekend (cannot wait!), the audition was really well responded to, my screenplay is making it to the page, and TCM (MY DREAM JOB if I don't make it as an actor)! I think the taxes was the last little down before my rise to the top :D

Tonight for our late night dinner Joe & I made a recipe from "Veganize This!" (best book!) to satisfy my "vegan munchies"-listen to this goodness: Morel Mushroom & Bacon White Macaroni & Cheese. I'll do a post of the recipe complete with pics but oh man is my tummy so happy tonight! AND only 386 calories per bowl-not bad for mac & cheese friends, not bad at all!

Well chickens, I hope you've had an amazing week-I will post some pictures soon-I haven't had time to upload them but I am getting on that! Have a great weekend loves!!

Foggy With a Chance of Classic Movies & Pasta!

My friends! How I have missed you-so many busy things going on!!

So here's the haps on what's been up my chickens:

1) I have re-affirmed my love for cooking & have been cooking up a storm. I made vegan rice krispie treats this weekend that EVERYONE could not stop eating. There were brats & coleslaw & pulled pork sandwiches, and all VEGAN! Yum yum yum!

2) I am losing weight (2-3lbs. a week is the goal) by eating even better vegan dishes-I am in love with The Vegan Table, Veganize This, & Appetite for Reduction!

3) I have chosen my fave headshots & have sent them to the photographer to see what editing wonders he can magic up for me :)

4) I am starting a writing group with a dear friend so I can FINALLY crank out my 2 scripts ( a movie about the wedding from hell I was in & a tv show about my wacky family), I could not be more excited to be really working on these. I've only been talking about them for around 2 years! It just feels nice to be working on these and have people to discuss them with.

5) The bf & I are on a strict budget-we're eliminating a few things-i.e. the cable (NO MORE TCM-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!), acupuncture for my back only once a month instead of once a week, cutting out going out for dinner/drinks/ordering lunch to once a month, just really keeping things tight. But I think that will make going out on our date night a little more special! :)

6)Coming home from work tonight I got an amazing surprise-Joe tidied up the house so I didn't have to tonight-it was such a nice thing to come home to. He let me know he was thinking of me & that he thought I deserved a night off from cleaning up the house! How sweet of him, huh?! He's the best guy a gal could ask for!!

7) With my night off from cleaning I made the following:

Vegan Puttanesca-ish Pasta:

-pasta-boil & set aside
-onions & garlic sauteed in olive oil
-plum tomatoes crushed by hand, add to onions & garlic
-black olive slices, add to pot
-shredded carrots, add to pot
-shredded green cabbage
-capers, add to pot
-dried parsley, oregano, & basil, add to pot
-red pepper flakes, add to pot
-black pepper & salt, add to pot
-bac'uns, add to pot
-mix sauce ingredients, then toss in pasta, top with vegan paresan

DELICIOUS! :P

8) I watched Meet the People (starring Lucille Ball & Dick Powell), Cover Girl (Rita Hayworth & Gene Kelly), and Du Barry Was a Lady (Lucy again, Gene Kelly, & Red Skelton)-they were all silly and very musical-ish of the time, I of course loved them. So cute and kitsch-y and full of power house actors! Fantastique!

9) I'm going to the following and you should to, it's beer & cupcakes!!!

10) Goodnight chickens!!!!!!! Hope you're well and life is good. xoxox

Sunny With a Chance of Inspiration

It doesn’t interest me
what you do for a living.
I want to know
what you ache for
and if you dare to dream
...of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me
how old you are.
I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me
what planets are
squaring your moon...
I want to know
if you have touched
the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened
by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.

I want to know
if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.

I want to know
if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you
to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations
of being human.

It doesn’t interest me
if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear
the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.

I want to know
if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes.”

It doesn’t interest me
to know where you live
or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me
who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me
where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know
what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.

I want to know
if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like
the company you keep
in the empty moments.

Just some food for thought & inspiration! :D

Cloudy With a Chance of The Kennedys

Hello dear friends!

So much going on! I have been eating and cooking up a storm-all delicious vegan eats of course. Lately we've been munching on Vegan Brunch Buffet at Savyon (scrumptious!), spicy garlic noodles at Fresh East (absolutely amazing), vegan lunch special & vegan pumpkin soup from Kassava (DELICIOUS), Mao's Chinese vegan items (mouth-watering), and have been cooking such tasty recipes as Hoison-Mustard Tofu Lettuce Wraps & Scallion Potato Pancakes (from Appetite for Reduction by Isa Chandra Moskowitz), Chipotle Lentil Burgers & OMG Oven-Baked Onion Rings (also from Isa's book), vegan brats & coleslaw, and Veganomicon's po'boys (also by Miss Moskowitz). Such delicacies in my tummy-I have been living it up! :D

I have been working tirelessly to finalize my pics for my headshots that I took & once I send them to be edited & get those back I will post oodles of pictures. Cannot wait to show you!

Movie reviews: I have been watching some goodies lately my friends-

Mildred Pierce (starring Joan Crawford, Jack Carson, Eve Arden): such an amazing film about a mother's struggle to provide for her family after she & her husband divorce. And the daughter is so ungrateful and cruel and selfish. Just a fabulous classic film-always a bit excessive in costumes, sets, etc. (no single mother could afford Joan's wardrobe) but a delight to watch nonetheless.

Mildred Pierce the mini-series (starring Kate Winslet, Guy Pearce, Evan Rachel Wood): so far I am enthralled-I am loving the realness that is being portrayed. Kate is raw, the little girl playing her daughter is owning that bigoted mind-set, Guy Pearce is wonderfully selfish and aloof-the sets & costumes, I have been loving it!

The Kennedys (starring Greg Kinnear, Barry Pepper, Tom Wilkinson): I am love with every scene that Greg, Tom, and Barry are in-those three men are fantastic actors. The women in the film are fantastic as well, all but Katie Holmes, she is just so blinky & twitchy & talk-out-of-the-side-of-her-mouthy that it distracts from EVERYTHING! Grrr Katie Holmes, grrr! Why must you ruin Jackie Kennedy with your weird twitchiness-stop it! Despite Katie this mini-series is very lovely. I am enjoying it immensely.

2012 (starring John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover): OY VEY! Why John, Danny, Amanda, etc., WHY?! This movie was just not good. Oh movies today-all CGI flash and no substance. No substance at all. And while the message was optimistic towards the human spirit which I appreciated the film was so poorly executed. Just blah...

A River Runs Through It (starring Brad Pitt, Tom Skerritt, Brenda Blethlyn): this movie is still magic to me-I love the story, the cinematography, everything. It reminds me so much of my two older brothers. Just poignant and lovely every time I watch it. Thank you Robert Redford and thank you Norman Maclean. I am haunted by waters...

Gangs of New York (starring Daniel Day Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz): I love this movie, well everything with the exception of Cameron Diaz. She is HORRIBLE, I'm sorry, she just is. There is no connection, her accent slips in and out, she is one of my least favorite actresses. She & Kirsten Dunst-do NOT get me started...other than she who shall not be named I really enjoy this film. The story, the actors, the grittiness, and Daniel Day Lewis is always brilliant. Just an amazingly committed and talented actor.

part of Sex & the City 2 (starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis): this movie makes me so sad-it missed the mark from the magic that was the show. So many problems. I had to turn it off because it made me sad to see what they did with most of the characters in the film. Just not my Sex & the City, I busted out my box set of DVDs and watched an episode just to soothe myself!

I feel like there is more that I watched but I am blanking & need to wrap up these left-overs from dinner for Joe's & my lunches tomorrow. I love left-overs!! Have an absolutely fabulous night & tomorrow dear chickens! xoxox
