Partly Cloudy With a Chance of CLEANING!

Hello Chickens! I just got done with 6 hours of Spring Cleaning! Holy goodness the LA smog had attached itself to everything in my apartment. My honey & I de-smogged, dusted, vacuumed, straightened, straight up CLEANED pretty much EVERYTHING! Well the apartment looks pretty immaculate and I am quite proud of the transformation. We love our place clean & cozy so it felt great to get it back to that state but boy oh boy does my back hurt now because of it (it was totally worth it though)!

So last weekend I went back to MI for a quick hop for my little sister's college graduation-she's a big grader! We are all so proud of her. And I had the BEST time hanging with my siblings, some really great talks, some great beers, some great laughs, and some really AMAZING food at Pasong's in Saginaw. If you are in MI-visit Pasong's-your mouth will thank you!! Here are some pictures highlighting the weekend:

This week has been a bunch of catching up on work & trying to catch up on sleep. And now that the weekend of cleaning is done hopefully this week will be more restful. I'll keep you posted ;) Oh and I have an audition for a David's Bridal commercial tomorrow-keep your fingers crossed! Hope you all had lovely weekends & the start of a lovely week! :D

P.S. We've been making some tasty treats lately-quick preview:

TOO HOT With a Chance of Busy Busy!!

Hello Chick-a-dees!!!

I have been so busy! So here goes...

-didn't hear back about the play-assuming after the weird comment about being so talented whether cast me or not kinda tipped me off.

-Auditioned on Saturday for fckh8.com, felt AWESOME about it, knew they really liked me especially after I told them that as a 6' redhead I had sass for days. My gays love a sassy red-head & I am more than happy to oblige! :D

-RAN up highland to the TCM Classic Film Festival immediately after the fckh8.com audition. Made it just in time to see Citizen Kane at Grauman's Chinese! SO AMAZING. Then Joe & I shuffled into the stand-by line for Breakfast at Tiffany's at Grauman's Chinese-got in-HOORAY! Got to see Julie Andrews and Robert Osborne do a talk on the director (& Julie's hubby) Blake Edwards. She was amazing & hearing her talk about how Blake was-it was just AMAZING. B at T's was made to watch on the big screen I tell ya what! Joe & I took LOADS of pics too so enjoy those!!

-Sunday wrote a ton on my screenplay-Save the Cat by Blake Snyder, cannot rave enough about this series for anybody wanting to write a screenplay. Felt crazy accomplished after finishing my beat sheet!

-got a call that I booked the fckh8.com commercial & that it filmed Monday

-went to my writer's group, went great

-Monday went to work at 8am, left at 11am for the fckh8.com shoot, the studio was little but adorable, however with the filming going on the a.c. had to be off and in 90 degree LA heat it was needless to say a bit toasty, so I get to the back to film and the shirt I am asked to wear is a purple v-neck that says fckh8 (it was an x-small so it was ALL cleavage!). I had a few lines, half of which were done in a mock southern accent (sorry to my southern friends-acting!) and the other half I was super happy, peppy, bouncy (boobs) girl. There were loads of kids there, a fab drag queen named Venus, and a few other random folks. I am excited to see how it all comes together & to share it with you all! Also I am excited to stand up & be part of a cause that I hold so dear!

-I got back to work at 1pm and stayed til 7pm-LONG day! Felt great to work on camera though & I got my t-shirt from the shoot to keep & got paid ($20). Pretty great day!

-Been doing my plate on livestrong.com & I think I am finally starting to slowly take off the extra weight from when I used to be on the pill years ago. HURRAY! It's actually a pretty cool site. I can keep track of my Vitamin D (I am CRAZY deficient!) and what I eat, drink, & how I exercise. Pretty great.

-I fly to Midland for my little sister's college graduation this weekend-I FEEL SOOOOOO OLD!!! My baby brother turns 21 on 5/13/11-when did I get so old, seriously? It's crazy to me how the time flies! I just got a lecture from my other sister about my bf & I not being married after being together for 5+ years & how I'm crazy for being an actor. Just made me feel even older...

Other than all this it's been really busy at work, plus my lil puppy is still a lil devil-butt but we love him, the bf is busy with PhD-ing it up, and well it is hotter than crap here! I am not a hot weather person and anything above 80 makes me want to die-it's been 90's! BOOOOO!! I know for those of you that are in the chillier weather still I sound like a big fat jerk but I am a day-glo red-head, hot = misery! :(

So hope all is well with you chickens! I will try to update more often, just been a busy lil gal! :D

Sunny & HOT With a Chance of Vegan Scallops & Linguine!

Hello Chickens!

So as promised here are my pictures:

Chipotle Lentil Burger, my Made In Detroit shirt, Vegan Po'boys & slaw, snuggle buddies, another Made In Detroit shirt, beer & Cupcakes, Natalie & Thoa's birthdays, Vegan Morel Mushroom & Bac'uns White Macaroni & Cheese Colonel Mustard eating a poster package I received in the mail, Vegan Rice Krispies, and more Mac 'n Cheese. AMAZING!!!

Tonight from the Veganize This! cookbook by Jen Shagrin we made her Vegan Scallops with a White Wine Cream Sauce Over Linguine-BLEW MY MIND! SO amazingly delicious-buy her book, do it, you will not regret. So flavorful and a huge diversity of recipes. It's rocking my world (& taste buds).

On the audition front I got a call back for the play I went out for, now just waiting to hear back. Also scheduling with the TCM producer when I can get on camera for my interview-EEEEE!!!!! Also I will be doing an infomercial for skin cream ($200 plus free product) as a favor to a friend whose job is to facilitate a buh-jillion infomercials. It should be pretty fun. Just getting my face out there :)

Hope all is well in your worlds! Colonel Mustard is snoozing on my shoulder but just perked up to tell me it's time to go O-U-T, so farewell. Night Chickens!

Sunny With a Chance of Mac & Cheese (vegan of course)

What a week it has been chickens!!!

So last Friday I got some bad news about owing a bunch of taxes, it looks like since I worked out of 10 locations not enough taxes were pulled. I got pretty bent out of shape about it. As Miss Holly Golightly puts it I had a case of the mean-reds. So I drank about it. A bottle of framboise and a large Jack Daniels & sweet tea. Now I am Irish-Polish-Cherokee so this gave me a buzz but wasn't anything dire. Sometimes a gal just has the mean-reds and really must follow in true "Breakfast at Tiffany's" style and have a drink with sunglasses about it.

Saturday I slept in until noon-thirty and camped out in my pjs watching Turner Classic Movies and snuggling with my pup. At 4 we got cleaned up & went to a Vegan Event at the Surly Goat here in West Hollywood with our friends from Dog is God in Reverse. Vegan Cupcakes (from C'est La V bakery) & beer from local micro-breweries. The cupcakes & beer were delightful! The lack of knowledge on the bar-tender & bar manager's part about which beers were vegan and which were not was disheartening (it WAS a vegan event planned 2 weeks in advance). Overall we had a blast. Then we went to Kari & Ian's place for dinner (they all had chicken :( wah wah) while I had AMAZING vegan Chickpea & Sausage Jambalaya [courtesy of the vegan dad!]. Great night.

Sunday was a day spent writing my synopsis & character analysis for my screenplay. I made delicios Lemony Artichoke Dip from "Clean Food" & vegan rice krispie treats. Then off to my writing group that I started with my good friend Dionna where we had a great & very inspiring first meeting. I am so excited to keep working on this project and hopefully make it a film!

Monday I booked and audition.

Tuesday I ROCKED my audition and got an email from Turner Classic Movies about a fan-story I submitted to them. They asked when I had time to talk more classic film with them (which I said ANYTIME-of course!) so hopefully you will see me on the TCM soon! :D I am so giddy I could burst-I am coming for you Robert Osborn, you know you need a fiery red-head to liven things up a bit!!!

I just feel like things are really starting to pick up acting & film wise. My edited headshots are coming this weekend (cannot wait!), the audition was really well responded to, my screenplay is making it to the page, and TCM (MY DREAM JOB if I don't make it as an actor)! I think the taxes was the last little down before my rise to the top :D

Tonight for our late night dinner Joe & I made a recipe from "Veganize This!" (best book!) to satisfy my "vegan munchies"-listen to this goodness: Morel Mushroom & Bacon White Macaroni & Cheese. I'll do a post of the recipe complete with pics but oh man is my tummy so happy tonight! AND only 386 calories per bowl-not bad for mac & cheese friends, not bad at all!

Well chickens, I hope you've had an amazing week-I will post some pictures soon-I haven't had time to upload them but I am getting on that! Have a great weekend loves!!

Foggy With a Chance of Classic Movies & Pasta!

My friends! How I have missed you-so many busy things going on!!

So here's the haps on what's been up my chickens:

1) I have re-affirmed my love for cooking & have been cooking up a storm. I made vegan rice krispie treats this weekend that EVERYONE could not stop eating. There were brats & coleslaw & pulled pork sandwiches, and all VEGAN! Yum yum yum!

2) I am losing weight (2-3lbs. a week is the goal) by eating even better vegan dishes-I am in love with The Vegan Table, Veganize This, & Appetite for Reduction!

3) I have chosen my fave headshots & have sent them to the photographer to see what editing wonders he can magic up for me :)

4) I am starting a writing group with a dear friend so I can FINALLY crank out my 2 scripts ( a movie about the wedding from hell I was in & a tv show about my wacky family), I could not be more excited to be really working on these. I've only been talking about them for around 2 years! It just feels nice to be working on these and have people to discuss them with.

5) The bf & I are on a strict budget-we're eliminating a few things-i.e. the cable (NO MORE TCM-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!), acupuncture for my back only once a month instead of once a week, cutting out going out for dinner/drinks/ordering lunch to once a month, just really keeping things tight. But I think that will make going out on our date night a little more special! :)

6)Coming home from work tonight I got an amazing surprise-Joe tidied up the house so I didn't have to tonight-it was such a nice thing to come home to. He let me know he was thinking of me & that he thought I deserved a night off from cleaning up the house! How sweet of him, huh?! He's the best guy a gal could ask for!!

7) With my night off from cleaning I made the following:

Vegan Puttanesca-ish Pasta:

-pasta-boil & set aside
-onions & garlic sauteed in olive oil
-plum tomatoes crushed by hand, add to onions & garlic
-black olive slices, add to pot
-shredded carrots, add to pot
-shredded green cabbage
-capers, add to pot
-dried parsley, oregano, & basil, add to pot
-red pepper flakes, add to pot
-black pepper & salt, add to pot
-bac'uns, add to pot
-mix sauce ingredients, then toss in pasta, top with vegan paresan

DELICIOUS! :P

8) I watched Meet the People (starring Lucille Ball & Dick Powell), Cover Girl (Rita Hayworth & Gene Kelly), and Du Barry Was a Lady (Lucy again, Gene Kelly, & Red Skelton)-they were all silly and very musical-ish of the time, I of course loved them. So cute and kitsch-y and full of power house actors! Fantastique!

9) I'm going to the following and you should to, it's beer & cupcakes!!!

10) Goodnight chickens!!!!!!! Hope you're well and life is good. xoxox

Sunny With a Chance of Inspiration

It doesn’t interest me
what you do for a living.
I want to know
what you ache for
and if you dare to dream
...of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me
how old you are.
I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me
what planets are
squaring your moon...
I want to know
if you have touched
the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened
by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.

I want to know
if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.

I want to know
if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you
to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations
of being human.

It doesn’t interest me
if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear
the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.

I want to know
if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes.”

It doesn’t interest me
to know where you live
or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me
who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me
where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know
what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.

I want to know
if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like
the company you keep
in the empty moments.

Just some food for thought & inspiration! :D
