"Sweet like a drinka cherry cola..."

I refuse to believe the lyric should be "chica cherry cola" site I found from Google to verify the lyrics. You are a liar. That is all.

Now back to meeeeeeeee...I know you want to hear more about my life. And if you don't then why are you reading this blog? That would be weird...

So, I am on day 6 of vegan. It's still kinda strange but also kinda awesome. We've been eating really tasty food and Joe is trying them all with me (and eating meat when he's not with me-haha). Yesterday we made a very tasty miso soup for lunch from The Kind Diet and for dinner we had "Chorizo" Tacos. Both were super tasty and of course I chronicled the cooking adventures for you with my camera phone. You're welcome.

I called my grandmother, which is actually a pretty big deal for me since we haven't really had a relationship since I was 8 but my grandpa just had a stroke so I though I should, and it went really well. Like, really REALLY well. Which was great. But also not what I expected. But I'm glad. And she was SO crazy supportive of me trying to "make it" as an actor which was refreshing and off-putting because I am not used to people in my family really getting it. I mean they support me but it's always with a "you should have a back-up plan Alex". And she just said "I think it's great that you are going for your dreams and I knew when you were little and could quote every tape we owned back that you would do something with it, good for you!". Crazy right? But it was really nice. Hopefully it's the start of a reconnection for me and them.

New job is going pretty well, lots of learning the ropes. I'm excited for it all to really get going! And I got to try the vegan pizza at one of the restaurants and it was super tasty!!

Hope all is well with you guys too! I'm still beaming from my gbf's engagement (even though he is terrible at returning phone calls so I can't get all the deets)! I am just so damned happy for him and his guy!!

Oh I forgot to mention, I started my raw foods cleanse box my boss at my old good job gave me yesterday. The morning packet is fine, the capsules to take before breakfast and lunch are great, the dinner drink mix is HORRID. But all in all day two is sailing along smoothly.

And currently Joe and I are making a yummy looking lentil stew from The Kind Diet. I'm watching The Bonnie Hunt Show which I love and am so sad is canceled. It's shaping up to be a great night!

What a weird post! Sorry but y'all know me, that's how I roll. :D
Take care!

Next post will be all my and Joe's cooking pics!!! Read on peeps! :)

"Maybe I just wouldn't know what to do with my strength anyway..."

I am watching my guilty pleasure, the soap opera One Life to Live and they are doing a horrible musical episode and almost all of them cannot sing. It is bad but it's so hilarious I can't stop watching. OH.MAN.

Okay so yesterday we made vegan Moroccan Couscous with Saffron! Pretty tasty my friends. It's from The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone. I am doing well on day 4 I must say. Only one milk craving thus far...but it was hard to resist! I did it though :D

Back to the couscous...it's so easy to make and so delicious! Definitely check it out...here are the pics!

Here is me puppy sitting for Kari's Baily Bug & BC. We were all very sleepy whilst Mesa was dock diving so we napped, then a long walk, then we read The Kind Diet. It was a good morning/afternoon. :)

Tonight we had Radicchio Pizza with Truffle Oil. It was so tasty! Tomorrow I think we are going to make Pecan Crusted Seitan with Rustic Pasta. Or 'Chorizo' Tacos. Either way it should be pretty tasty! :)

First day at the job was pretty easy, loads of filing, but I'll take it over the poopy feelings from the other place. So yay to the new job!!!

Hope all is going well with y'all too! Have a great day everybody!

Oh and P.S. my gbf Ben got engaged to his boyfriend of almost 4 years! SO happy for them! Such exciting news :D

We Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Program To Bring You...

Big News! HUGE news. GI-NORMOUSLY AMAZING NEWS!

I. got. a. new. job.

Let that soak in...I'll give you a minute...I GOT A NEW JOB!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!

So I said goodbye to those harassing jerks and hello to people who "are excited I'll be joining them" and think I'll be "a major asset" to their company. And by company I mean restaurants. I am the Office Manager for 6 LA restaurants. So basically what I am doing at my one job for the bars I now will be doing for some restaurants. Hello to minimal training!

And the best part? Part time, they are cool with my acting, they are paying me well, they'll allow me to bring my dog to work (when I rescue one), and I get weekends to MYSELF! I haven't had a weekend to do whatever I've wanted to do since 6th grade. SIXTH GRADE! Amazing right?! This leaves SO much more time for auditions, crafting, visiting the farmers markets in my area, writing my comedy movie about my horrible wedding experience last October, walking the pups a block over, etc.

I just feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. So much less stress and anxiety. YAY!

Now for some sad news. I just found out my mom's dad had a stroke and isn't doing well. Now I haven't had a relationship with her parents since I was about 7 or 8 but I have been wanting to reconnect with them recently to move past all this "bad blood" from the past. I'm 25 now and just felt it was time. I would like to know them before they leave this world. And today was very scary. I sort of want to fly back to MI from Cali to try to "fix" things as soon as possible just in case. I think I may actually call them tomorrow. P.S. I haven't called my grandparents since I was 6 or so. It just seems so crazy and sort of strange that the minute I want to reconnect it could be taken away. Hopefully it will all work out for the best.

Back to more positive news. I have been trying out a vegan diet these past few days. Partly to do a cleanse for my body of all the negative stuff I have been carrying around from this job now that I have my new one (YAY again). And partly to give vegan a fair go. I have always said I could NEVER live without dairy and I want to see if I can and how this way of living and eating makes me feel. If I like it I just might stick to it for good. So far, it's FANTASTIC! I am really surprised at how much I am really liking it and the food I'm eating. :) So hip-hip-hooray for healthy living! We'll see where I am at as this journey continues...

That's all for now. I am going to post again soon, hopefully tomorrow but with 3 jobs this week we'll see. I cannot wait for this week to be done and to be just working the 2 jobs I am excited to be at and slough off the negative job, energy it brings, stress, etc. It'll just feel amazing, I know it. :)

Hope you all had very lovely weekends!
All my x's and o's!

"It's okay to trip, but don't fall..."

"...it's okay to fall, but don't hurt yourself.
It's okay to hurt yourself but don't hurt nobody else,
it's okay to hurt somebody else...just say you're sorry, oh my darling, please forgive me." ~as sung by Leslie and the Badgers

Love that song. And band.

Well my friends I have been trying to slough off the angry and hurt about this work situation. All I am going to say is I'm look for little things to inspire me and get me creatively working and am talking with a counselor about it all. Hopefully all will be well emotion wise for me...soon. Very soon.

I've been hanging out with old college friends recently and it just feels like coming home. Getting me back to a home base. I love it. They just breed such happy lovely feelings. Love those gals and guys. So much! Makes me miss other good folks from my MSU days. Need some more of that in my life! Miss your faces all! xoxox

I am still holding on to some sick-ness. My lymph-nodes are crazy swollen and sore. Maybe I should give in and see a doctor. Oy I hate going to the doctor. Mostly due to how freaking expensive it is to do so here in LA.

I am obsessed with the HBO show Treme. It feeds my musical soul. I love me some blues and jazz and New Orleans! Such amazing writing on that show. And fantastic actors.

I am obsessed with Betty White. I love her. I know it's hip right now but I always have loved her (since she was Rose Nyland baby) and I love that she is getting some major attention lately. You go Betty!

I am so super sad that The Bonnie Hunt Show is almost over. I love her. She is just so Midwest and real person and kind. I had such a good time at her taping and her shows are always so fun and funny and sweet and about spreading good in the world. I'll miss that show!

I'm flirting with the idea of going vegan for a bit. I'm looking in to it at least. And for someone who can drink a gallon of milk on her own in just a few short hours that is crazy to me. I just want to give it a go and see what all the hype is about. And see what all my friends mean when they say they just feel better and lighter after they made the switch.

I want to rescue a dog NOW. Like right this minute. Joe is digging his heels a little since we are SO tight on money right now. But my soul just needs this and it is screaming it needs to do this now. So I think I might be just coming home with a rescue soon whether Joe likes it or not...we'll see how that works out for me.

We are house hunting, well hunting for a house to rent at least, with Kari and her pups and DH. I am SO excited. SO super excited about this. First because it means puppy time all the time, second because it means more space, and third because it will most likely mean less rent and bills. Win win for sure! :D

That's all for now on my ramblings. Here are some lil inspirations from this past week. Enjoy!

"You were saying you don't know squat..."

So my friends it has been an interesting week. I was sick over the weekend and then Monday went to a taping of The Bonnie Hunt show with Kari's mother-in-law. It was a blast. They gave us Mug Rootbeer and hotdogs, Bonnie shook the entire audience's hands, and the guest were pretty funny and fun. And Carol (the MIL) is such a fun, super sweet lady. And she's a talker, a gal after my own heart if you will. We went to dinner afterward at The Village Idiot.

And Tuesday we all bummed around Hollywood Blvd. with "Flat Stanley". Whom I made little construction paper clothes for. The pictures they take of him get sent to Carol's niece in Chicago in 2nd grade. It was silly and fun. And we went to Mel's Diner (which is where they filmed "American Graffiti") and their banana split is TO DIE FOR! So tasty!

I've also a had a few interviews. It has been pretty busy around here, that's for sure. Hopefully all will start looking up soon! :D

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!
